What do you get when the 2021/2022 winning

Show Tune Showdown team wants to collaboratively produce a cabaret?

A Vanity Project like no other, filled with fun, laughter and a ton of talent!  Meet the cast below, and then check out our Gallery of show photos.

Andy Allen-McCarthy

Born in Manchester, UK. Andy has worked as a professional dancer and singer for many years. Working on many things from musicals and music videos to modeling and cruising the world. It was in rehearsals where Andy met his husband Paddy - they both traveled the world together before setting down roots in Ottawa. Now a full Canadian citizen, Andy is an award-winning Realtor in Ottawa and loves that he is able to still perform while doing another career he loves. Some of Andys favorite previous roles include: Tick (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Frank Abignale Junior (Catch Me If You Can) and Jon (tick, tick…BOOM!).

Kenny Hayes

First and foremost, thank you Rafael, and thank you Wendy, Andréa, Andy & Katie!

Kenny has acted, written and music-directed stage productions in Ottawa and abroad.  Credits include: tick...tick...BOOM!, Skin Flick, Marion Bridge, A Christmas Story, Rock of Ages  and Henry (Nepean Little Theatre Award - Best Actor in a Leading Role.).

He released his EP "Lightning... and Other Fears" last year (available wherever you listen to music), and you'll see him on stage again in November 2023 as funny clown-musician Feste in Kanata Theatre's Twelfth Night.

Andréa Black

Andréa is ecstatic to be a part of Zucchini Productions’ The Vanity Project…. After all, what could be better than doing something you love with people you love?!? Some favourite performance credits from her 25+ years in the Ottawa musical theatre community include RENT (Mimi), The Drowsy Chaperone (Janet), A Chorus Line (Val), Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey), tick, tick…BOOM! (Susan), and Chicago (Roxie).  Andréa was also the proud stage director of Orpheus’ Rock of Ages before it was prematurely shut down at the start of the pandemic. Special thanks to Wendy, Andy, Katie, and Kenny for making this truly one of kind return to the stage a reality and to her family and friends for their never-ending love and support.

Katie Shapiro

Katie is thrilled to be joining some of her best musical theatre friends in this oft-joked-about but finally realized project! Over the years, Katie has appeared in various shows with Orpheus Musical Theatre (A Chorus Line, Spamalot, Rock of Ages, etc.), ToToToo (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), and Suzart After Dark (The Rocky Horror Show). A policy analyst by day and a freelance writer on the side, Katie is very grateful to this wonderful group of performers and musicians for keeping her singing (and laughing).
